Walpole-Nornalup National Park is located in the south-west of Western Australia, 355 km south of Perth. It is notable for its towering karri and tingle trees. The park is part of the larger Walpole Wilderness Area, an international hotspot for biodiversity established in 2004. One of the main tourist attractions in the area is the Valley of the Giants. Those who are not afraid of heights can get a tree top view on the Tree Top Walk a 40 m high walk way that wheelchair-accessible. Most similar canopy walkways around the world are built using suspension bridge type structures, but the Tree Top Walk is a series of sixty-meter, lightweight steel trusses built on steel pylons to form a secure ramp. A whale-watching lookout has been set up on Conspicuous Beach, from where migrating whales, like Humpback Whales, Southern Right Whales and dolphins can be seen. The park's area extends to the coastline, offering a range of habitats from forest to coastal heathland. Conspicuous Cliff is one of the few places in the national park where the coast is accessible. The area also includes Walpole-Nornalup Inlets, fed by the Deep and Frankland rivers. The Bibbulmun Track runs through the park to the coast, which is a walking trail of about 1000 km in Western Australia. It takes its name from the Bibbulmun or Noongar people, the indigenous Australians living around Perth.
