Huacachina emerges as a rare desert oasis in southern Peru, nestled near the city of Ica and surrounded by vast, wind-shaped sand dunes that dominate the arid coastal desert landscape. Centered around a natural lagoon fed by underground water sources, the settlement developed in the early 20th century as a retreat believed to have therapeutic qualities. Tall palm trees and vegetation surround the water, creating a striking contrast with the surrounding golden dunes, some of which rise more than 100 meters above the oasis.
