The Orto-Tokoy reservoir, created in 1956, holds the distinction of being the first water reservoir in Kyrgyzstan. Situated on the Chu River, just behind the village of Kochkor, it spans an impressive length of approximately 18 kilometers. With a volume exceeding 4700 million cubic meters, the reservoir serves a crucial purpose in the region. Its primary function is to provide irrigation for the agricultural lands of the Chuy region in Kyrgyzstan as well as parts of southern Kazakhstan. One of the most striking features of the Orto-Tokoy reservoir is the vast expanse of its calm waters.
