The Ala Archa Nature Park with its spectacular glaciers, waterfalls and high peaks is located only 40 km south of Bishkek. The park covers more than 200 km2 in Kyrgyzstan's Tian Shan Mountain range. Its peaks climb from 1600 m to 4875 m altitude, with its highest peak called Semenov Tian Shanski Peak. Ala Archa is not only a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts but also a significant site for scientific research. The park's diverse ecosystem attracts researchers from around the world who study the unique flora and fauna that inhabit its territory. The park's establishment in 1976 aimed to protect this important biodiversity. The name "Ala Archa" holds cultural significance as well. In addition to the Gray Marmots, Wild Goats, deer, ibex, Snow Leopard and wolves, the park is also home to a rich birdlife. Birdwatchers can spot various species, including Golden Eagles, Himalayan Snowcocks, and Bearded Vultures soaring through the skies. During the winter months, the park transforms into a winter wonderland, attracting skiers and snowboarders.
