Capoiale

Capoiale is a village in Italy located on the shores of the picturesque Lago di Varano, around the canal of the same name, which connects the Lake of Varano with the Adriatic Sea. It is an oasis of peace and tranquility in the Puglia region. Before the construction of the canal, this area was the home of the Focecchia, a small stream. Part of the National Nature Reserve of the Island of Varano is located in the area of Capoiale. From a historical point of view, Capoiale has a rich cultural heritage, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Middle Ages. On the western bank of the canal the remains of a farmhouse and Roman graves were found. The village's strategic location on the lake made it an attractive hub for trade and commerce, fostering the growth of a thriving community; its pier is frequented by fishing boats and small vessels. One of the village's main attractions is its proximity to Lago di Varano, a stunning natural wonder that offers a range of recreational activities. The lake's crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming, kayaking and fishing, while the surrounding countryside is ideal for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Nature enthusiasts can also explore the lake's diverse wildlife, including migratory birds, fish and other aquatic species. In addition to its natural beauty, Capoiale is renowned for its gastronomic delights. The village is famous for its traditional Puglian cuisine, which offers a variety of delicious dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.
