Levera Hill National Park

One of Grenada's most scenic and diverse coastal areas, the 182-hectare Levera National Park is located in the northern parish of St. Patrick. The Levera Wetland is the only Ramsar site in Grenada and was designated as a Wetland of International Importance on May 22, 2012. Levera wetlands include the large salt pond, a smaller pond south, and the beach. The lagoon is one of the most important wildlife habitats on the island, and its picturesque beach is always popular on weekends. The lagoon, which consists of an extensive mangrove swamp, offers bird watchers a treat as it is a sanctuary for remarkable birdlife, among them the brilliant Scarlet Ibis, herons, Black-Necked Stilt, Common Snipe, and other species. With excellent coral reefs and seagrass beds that shelter lobsters and beautiful reef fish, Levera's marine areas are equally cherished. Between March and July, hundreds of endangered sea turtles come here for nesting.
