Lake Antoine

The crater lake of Lake Antoine is formed by the collapsed cone of a volcano and is said to be named after Captain Antoine, the Carib Chief who resided in the area around 1650. This site is situated on the eastern side of Grenada. It is approximately 6 miles north of Grenville Town. From the top of a hill, you can get a good view of this perfectly shaped crater. Inside the crater is a shallow crater lake that covers 6,5 hectares. The Lake Antoine water level is usually no higher than 6 meters above sea level. Despite being in a relatively dry, hot area of the island, this is a good birding spot. Snail Kites, Fulvous Whistling Ducks, Limpkins and Gray Kingbirds have been spotted here.
