Located on the south-facing plateau of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia, Gudauri is a famous ski resort. The resort is located at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level in the Stepantsminda district, alongside the Georgian Military Highway in the vicinity of the Jvari Pass. Gudauri's slopes are located high above the tree line and are classified as avalanche safe. Heliskiing, which gives skiers almost unlimited access to the local mountains, is also a popular activity in the area. Skiers can enjoy runs at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 4,200 meters above sea level. The monument of Russian-Georgian friendship is located near Gudauri. Nowadays, the monument is called the Panorama Gudauri. It was built in 1983 to celebrate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and the continuing friendship between Soviet Georgia and Soviet Russia. The monument is located on the Georgian military highway between the ski resort of Gudauri and the Jvari Pass. It's a large circular stone and concrete construction with views of the Devil's Valley in the Caucasus Mountains. In the interior of the monument there is a large tile mural that covers the entire circumference of the building and shows scenes from the history of Georgia and Russia.
