Neo Chorio is a Greek village in the province of Paphos, approximately 41 km north of Paphos city. The village's administrative area covers most of the Akamas Peninsula. Neo Chorio is located on the plateau of Laona, about two kilometers from the sea at an average elevation of 170 meters above sea level. The plateau's major geomorphological feature is a north-west-south-east anticline that coincides with the ridge of the area. Most of this ridge extends into the municipality of Neo Chorio, in the part of the municipality occupied by the Akamas forest. Mavri Siinia is the highest peak on the ridge, which lies within the administrative boundaries of the village, at 428 meters. The village landscape is dissected by a number of streams that come from the ridge of the plateau and end either on the west coast of the area or in the Chrysochous Bay. The picturesque scenery of the village, with its lovely clean beaches and the vicinity of the Akamas forest with its abundant natural vegetation, was the next factor that sparked interest in tourism development. Tourist resorts and holiday homes started to be built on the coastal area of the village, while there was also interest in building holiday homes in the village itself. The area is frequented by locals, mainly Nicosian, but foreigners also come, as the Baths of Aphrodite attract a particularly large number of visitors every day. Many of the village's 300 permanent residents grow citrus fruit, cereals, fodder crops, almonds and walnuts, chickpeas and also produce their own wine, while other residents are livestock farmers and fishermen.
