Church Village

Church Village is located the parish of Saint Philip, Barbados. In the village you will find Saint Philip's Parish Church. The parish church was built in 1640 as an Anglican church in the parish of Saint Philip of Barbados. In 1780, however, the original building was destroyed by a hurricane, but was rebuilt in 1786. But it was also destroyed by a hurricane on 11 August 1831. The church was then again rebuilt and the new building was consecrated on 20 October 1837 by Bishop William Hart Coleridge. In 1977, on Ash Wednesday, the building was partially damaged by a fire, which was subsequently restored. The graveyard was consecrated at the same time as the rebuilt church, in October 1837. It contains the graves of several prominent former residents.
