Mount Kinabalu, located in Borneo and Malaysia, is not only the highest peak in the region but also the third highest island peak in the world, standing at an impressive elevation of 4,095 meters. Additionally, the mountain is home to a diverse range of wildlife, with over 100 species of mammals and 326 species of birds documented, including the magnificent Rhinoceros Hornbill, Mountain Serpent-Eagle, Dulit Frogmouth, Eye-Browed Jungle Flycatcher, and Bare-Headed Laughing Thrush. Among the notable inhabitants of Mount Kinabalu are the charismatic orangutans. Alongside the orangutans, visitors may encounter other fascinating creatures such as the Bornean Gibbons, Clouded Leopards, and various species of flying squirrels. The mountain's rich biodiversity has earned it the prestigious designation of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognizing its ecological importance and the need for its preservation. Climbing Mount Kinabalu is an exhilarating experience that does not require specialized mountaineering equipment. However, climbers must be in good physical condition and adhere to national park regulations, which mandate that accredited guides accompany them throughout the journey.
