Varzea is a village on the island of São Miguel. It is located high at the foot of the Sete Cidades volcano, surrounded by luscious pastures and its main economic activity is agriculture. From the viewpoint you can see Ponta da Ferraria, the Mosteiros Islets, Lomba Grande and Lomba da Fonte and the village itself. The Mosteiros Islets are the exposed remnants of a submerged volcanic cone that has been severely eroded by the sea over the years.
